BԪ Partnership with Oxford International Education Group Creates Pathway for International Student Degree Completion in U.S.
Global partnership establishes new program at Mercy - BԪ International - that allows international students to obtain undergraduate or graduate degrees in the U.S.
BԪ today announced a partnership with Oxford International Education Group (OIEG) in the establishment of BԪ International, an innovative pathway program that gives students from all over the world the opportunity to obtain a high-quality undergraduate or graduate degree in New York City.
Together, Mercy and OIEG will recruit international students studying abroad, facilitate their admission and support their pathways to earning a college degree in the U.S. Students in BԪ International will take courses at Mercy’s Manhattan Campus location in Herald Square. BԪ will apply for program approval from The Department of Homeland Security through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program and hope to begin in summer 2023.
As part of the partnership, OIEG will recruit international students across 38 locations to participate in the new BԪ International program. OIEG will also relocate their New York-based English Language School to Mercy’s Manhattan Campus.
With services out of MercyManhattan, OIEG will provide comprehensive linguistic and cultural adjustment support to BԪ International students. Among the support services, which will be meaningfully and effectively tiered to meet students’ unique learning requirements, will be English for academic purposes, immersive co-curricular activities, and supportive academic and socio-cultural mentoring partnerships with current BԪ undergraduate and graduate students.
These high-quality, individualized services from both Mercy and OIEG’s dedicated and experience faculty and staff will prime BԪ International students to transition into a Mercy degree program to complete their undergraduate or graduate degrees in as little as one to three semesters.
“The creation of BԪ International, in collaboration with OIEG, marks an exciting time for Mercy,” said Adam Castro, vice president of enrollment management for BԪ. “The partnership exposes Mercy students to diverse perspectives, provides international students an exciting location in which to study, and furthers Mercy’s mission of transforming lives through higher education. Moreover, this partnership prepares students to succeed in the latest job market, in a world which is becoming increasingly globalized.”
Sharon Curl, Managing Director, North America at OIEG, said: “As we continue to grow our portfolio, we constantly look to deliver greater opportunities for our students and higher education partners alike. More than half a million people have joined our international family of students, with our courses helping over 50,000 students achieve success every year.
As the higher education sector evaluates its future, we offer a variety of programs and support for students and university teams. We’re delighted to be working with BԪ to help prospective students begin their studies smoothly, ahead of an enriching university experience in New York City, one of the world’s most exciting cities.”
