May 28 Message from the Office of the Provost

Dear Mercy Community,

I hope you and your families are well.

Throughout this unprecedented time, we have been challenged in many ways and our community has rallied together to successfully finish the spring term.

The College recognizes this is a difficult time and has decided to continue to offer the Credit Earned/No Credit Earned (CE/NE) grading option for all summer terms. We believe that extending the CE/NE grading option may provide peace of mind to those of you who are currently enrolled in or plan to enroll in a summer course. We encourage students not currently enrolled in a summer course to consider this CE/NE grading option as a reason to continue their education over the summer.

You can find the summer CE/NE policy and Frequently Asked Questions on Mercy’s coronavirus webpage

The deadlines for electing into the CE/NE grading option for each term can be found in the revised summer academic calendar, which can be accessed here.

Once the request is processed, the CE/NE grading option will be permanently posted to your transcript and cannot be changed.

All students should be aware that, although the CE/NE grading option is allowed for most courses this summer, it may not be the best choice for everyone. It is strongly advised that students consult with their Program Director or PACT mentor to discuss implications of opting into the CE/NE grading option.

Please know that faculty and staff are here to help you in any way possible.

Thank you and I hope to “see” you in a Mercy class this summer.

Sincerely,
José Herrera, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
